Newborn babies can have dry and flaky skin more easily than elder people because their skins are more sensitive. Moreover, the air is too dry, even the air created by the air conditioner at home, which makes their skins lose necessary moisture.

Instructions

1.    Bathe them less frequently and in a shorter time. Most babies don’t need to have a bath more than 30 minutes a day. The longer and more frequent bath can take out the natural moisture and oils necessary for maintaining their skin supple. Try to bathe them for a few times in a week and 10 minutes per bath by warm water.

3.    Moisturizing your baby’s skin right after the bath. Some parents use store-bought creams and salves for this. Some products are good for their skin, but those contain perfumes and fragrances ruining the purpose. Therefore, you can try the natural and inexpensive oils such as olive or grape seed oil to moisturize your babies as another option.

4.    Wash out the salt and chlorine water from your newborn’s skin immediately. When salt and chlorine water dry on skin, it will deplete all the natural moisture and oils.

5.    Offer water to your babies. Feed them with breast milk or formula whenever they’re hungry because it also helps them not be thirsty. If they are old enough to drink water, supply it frequently.

6.    Use humidifier at home, especially in their bedrooms or wherever they usually sleep.
