Having a child brings many challenges no matter how new parents did prepare. Most of them feel terrified, and realize there is one creature depending on them to live. Take back your confidence, because there are so many parents on Earth, like your parents, who have been successful in raising and teaching their children.

Sleep

Newborns do not know about time at all

One problem new parents must solve is lacking of sleep. The reason is your newborn is driven by his needs and does not know anything about time at all. He needs to be fed, changed nappy, and feel comfortable. This leads to interrupting your sleep. Most babies do not sleep tight through the night until they reach three months old. Set a habit for baby to know when it is time to sleep, like swing him lightly or sing him a lullaby.

Bath

When you are about to bath him, prepare stuff like plastic sink, soap and baby shampoo, towels and a bucket of water. Wipe your baby with sponge bath until his umbilical cord has fallen off, usually in the first three weeks. Once his umbilical cord has fallen off, give him a bath. Check the temperature. Water must be warm, not cold or hot, before put him in. Never leave him alone under any circumstances while bathing. If you have to leave the bathroom, wrap him in a towel and take him with you.

Dress

Dress your sweet

If the weather is warm, dress him with soft clothing, like cotton. When you are out for a walk in a sunny day, pull out the sun-blocking parasol of your stroller to keep him away from sun burn. If the weather is cold, dress him in many layers and towel to keep him warm. When you are at home, take off the layers so he is not too hot.

Change nappy

Keep your baby as dry as possible

Allergy to chemicals in nappy, urine and excrement having been too long on your baby’s body, and aggressive cleaning might cause diaper rash. Change napkin regularly and keep your baby as dry as possible. Using adult’s soap for baby might cause skin allergy.
