7 Kinds Of Food Pregnant Women Should Avoid

Eating enough fat is necessary; however, when eating too much fat during that time, pregnant women may pass the possible risk of getting cancer to their babies.

1.        Alcohol and alcoholic beverages

Experts advise that pregnant women shouldn’t drink alcohol, as the newborn babies can easily have sudden death syndrome and lots of other incurable diseases.

Children born from alcoholic mothers have the risk of getting this syndrome 7 times higher than from those who aren’t. Especially, during pregnancy, if you drink much alcohol, this rate will increase by 9 times.

2.        Sour food

Morning sickness, nausea, craving for sour food is symptom commonly seen in pregnant women in early pregnancy. Recent scientific researches show that at early stage of pregnancy, if the mother absorbs too much sour (acid) and other sour substances, they will affect the growth and development of the fetus. If you have morning sickness or feel tasteless, you should eat limitedly, don’t use sour food as your main food.

3.        Caffeine

When being pregnant, women should limit using caffeine. Caffeine affects the calcium concentration in your body. Drinking too much caffeine will also affects the hormones, increases the heartbeat, burdens the heart and kidney, affects your health, causes tension and fatigue to both mom and fetus.

Besides, eating too much drinks containing caffeine will make pregnant women have anemia, iron deficiency, affecting the transfer of nutrition to the fetus.

5.        Salt

Hypertension in pregnant women will cause a lot of harmful effects that can increase the risk of pregnancy toxemia. The amount of salt the body absorbs everyday relates to the rate of hypertension. The more salt you eat, the higher the rate of hypertension is. Therefore, to take care of your health during pregnancy, it’s best for pregnant women to eat just 6g of salt every day.

6.        Sugar-rich food

During pregnancy, the glucose eliminating function of the kidney will drops at different levels. Therefore, if the level of glucose in blood is too high, pregnant women’s kidney will have to work at full capacity, which is not good for their health. That doesn’t even mention the excessive glucose absorption will weaken the immunity of the body, reducing the resistance to diseases so women can easily get a disease. That’s the reason why pregnant women are recommended to reduce eating sugar-rich foods during pregnancy.

7.        Tonic

Many people think that when they’re pregnant, they have to take lots of tonic so that babies can stay healthy. But in fact, when being pregnant, the blood flow increase significantly, the heart works harder, the blood vessel in uterus, vaginal wall and oviduct are normally in the expanding, congesting condition. The endocrine system function of the body is stronger, less gastric juice is secreted, so pregnant women normally don’t feel like eating. In this case, they usually supplement tonic, ginseng… which make the endocrine become more unbalanced, causing constipation, danger to the fetus. So, if you want to take tonic, you need to follow the instruction of the doctor.
