Yoghurt contains probiotics, friendly gut bacteria which may help alleviate bloating, irritable bowel syndrome and flatulence.

[What the expert says] "Probiotic foods contain live bacteria which help our digestive system," says Evangelista. "Some of the live cultures in yoghurt survive the digestive process and help our own gut bacteria in the lower bowel to work better. This can be particularly helpful for people with irritable bowel syndrome or those who are taking antibiotics."

Tip. Add a couple of tablespoons of yoghurt to your breakfast cereal or enjoy a tub of low-fat yoghurt for a snack.

"Despite its apparent benefits for treating a cough, it's still a sugar that contains little vitamin or mineral content and can contribute to weight gain and dental decay," says Evangelista.

Tip. Dab a little honey on a pimple. It's likely it'll be gone by morning.
