We all feel livelier and healthier during summer, but do you wish you could keep that feeling going all year? Here’s some newest advices from experts to raise energy and tackle health glitches

Seasonal produce is bursting with the flavour and nutrients nature intended. We’ll help you find the very best fruit and veg every month.

1. Lemon

Load up on lemons this month! This tangy citrus fruit is bursting with antioxidant vitamin C, which preserves and heals the body’s tissues. As a rich source of phytochemicals- plant compounds that help combat age-related damage and chronic conditions, such as heart disease and cancer- lemons are a valuable and versatile part of any eating plan!

Toast the season

Give winter the cold shoulder with this soothing drink: Add a sliced lemon and 2 cinnamon sticks to a large pot of black tea. Leave to steep for five minutes and sweeten with honey, if desired.

Dress to kill

Dress steamed green vegies, such as broccoli, beans and peas, with a mixture of 2 teaspoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of finely chopped mint and 1 teaspoon of finely grated lemon zest. Sprinkle vegies with toasted flaked almonds and serve.

Balance big flavours

Lemons are a perfect foil for rich flavours. Add the juice and zest of a large lemon to a basic risotto recipe for a tangy dish to serve with fish.

Pick the best

Choose firm, plump, brightly coloured tart Eureka, tangy Lisbon or sweet Meyer lemons. Ripe lemon peel gives off a fresh citrus aroma when you rub it. Fruit should feel heavy for its size and be free from wrinkles, bruises and brown spots. Lemons keep for a week at room temperature, and for up to two weeks in the fridge. Freeze lemon-juice ice cubes, and they’ll retain their flavour for up to three months!
