Shady businessman Cho (Kim Yeong Cheol) hatches a plan to steal slush funds hidden at Incheon Customs in South Korea. His team includes dashing safe-cracker Ji Hyeok (Kim Woo Bin), trusty techy Goo In (Ko Chang Seok) and boyish hacker Jong Bae (Lee Hyun Woo).

Been there, done that. Watching The Con Artists in the wake of movies such as American crime caper Ocean's Eleven (2001) and South Korean action comedy The Thieves (2012) gives one a sense of deja vu.

While largely entertaining, it is unlikely to leave a mark for originality. The classic (or cliched?) crime scenes here include unflappable burglar Ji Hyeok cracking open a safe, climbing through an air vent and successfully evading the clutches of the frenzied security guards.

Whereas The Thieves had a starstudded cast comprising the likes of Korean stars Gianna Jun and Kim Soo Hyun and Hong Kong's Simon Yam, this film's box office and charisma depend on its jaunty leading man Kim Woo Bin.

And how the strapping actor works his charm, even his smirk and cockiness seem to have been borrowed from his role as the badass school bully in the hit teen romance television series The Inheritors (2013).

Korean directors love to reward their viewers with eye candy.

In The Thieves, male audiences were delighted and female audiences envious when the leggy Jun stripped down to a figure-hugging bodysuit.

In The Con Artists, keep your eyes peeled for the sculpted Kim Woo Bin in a steamy shower scene.
